I absolutely love listening to *Commencement speeches delivered in different schools, guess that may be a pastime hobby for me…lol .
Well I love listening to these speeches, not because these schools invite prominent personalities like Sherly Sandberg (COO, Facebook), Oprah Winfrey, Barak Obama, or other accomplished personalities in their own right. But because of the content of the message being passed across in these speeches.
Not one time have I heard any of these speakers say anything like “do anything with your life!” Not one time have I heard them, though they are rich, speak about amassing wealth or getting better paying jobs. They always talk about doing things that one is absolutely passionate about. They speak of sitting down with oneself and asking questions like “what is my sparkle?” “What is my own shake?” “What is my purpose?” “Who am I and what do I like?” “What makes me come alive?”
YOU WERE CREATED FOR A REASON.
The sooner you get to finding that and doing that the better, freer and more fulfilling you will be. #gbam!
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed”.
Psalm 139: 13-16 NLT
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
You are not just another digit that makes up the world’s populace of over 7billion people. You were thought of, planned and given life for an intent and for a purpose that is BIGGER THAN and GREATER than YOU.
Once I heard this story (source CBS Music)
A white young lady (let us call her Jill) at age 17, was pregnant for a black man. Let me explain a little why i put in the colours, this was a time in Waterloo Iowa, US in the year 1971 when racial segregation was very high.
Jill came home one day to inform her parents that she was pregnant for a black man. The only suggestion she got was to terminate the pregnancy, and this was simple because she had her entire life ahead of her and she was a wonderful pianist.
‘Let’s just chalk this up as a mistake and move on’ Jill said, ‘No, no, I’m going to keep this baby’ and as a result, her family turned their back on her.
When she was eight months pregnant, her and the baby’s daddy split and she moved to California, where the government was threatening to take her baby away from her because the government viewed her as unfit as she was into drug usage.
In her state, without hope, a lady met Jill on the road and told her that Jesus loved her and she will be fine, God had not forgotten her. Jill got on her knees and decided to live for Christ and her life changed forever.
Let us fast forward…
Her baby is now 44 years old and he is a prominent worship leader who has released a number of heaven moving worship songs over the past years till date. His name is Israel Houghton. you know him right?!
Let me tell you a little about Israel (source: Wikipedia)
- He is a worship leader at Lakewood Church pastored by Joel Osteen
- He has won 11 Dove awards (2005-2009), 2 Stellar awards (2005) and 4 Grammy awards (2008-2011)
- He has released songs like: You are God (Alive in SA), Jesus at the centre (Jesus at the centre album), Alpha and Omega (Alive in SA), Your presence is heaven (Jesus at the centre album), friend of God (Alive in SA) and many others.
Who would have thought that a baby unplanned for, and almost terminated will end up becoming a worldwide phenomenon?!
God used what the devil intended for bad and made a beautiful story out of it.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them”.
–Romans 8:28 NLT
Your story may not be this, nor have any similitude to this. It may even be worse, it really does not matter. What matters is that you are in the mind and intent of God and he wants to use you and your life for a purpose bigger than yourself. #NowThatisUndilutedTRUTH
There is so much more to your life, you are precious and specifically custom-created by God for a specific intent and for a beautiful purpose.
Believe it! There is much more to you friend, so much more.
“ For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.
Jeremaih 29:11 NLT
