The man Methuselah

When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.  After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters.  Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died”- Gen 5:26-28

Hmmm… the oldest man that ever lived, 969 years, ALL that could be said about him was he had Sons and Daughters. THAT’S ALL!

He lived 969 years and then he died End of story. Really?

It may be sounding all vague now because people do not live to 969 years, now we have skyscrapers, better jobs, cute kids, etc. but something underlying is jumping out at me, let me share.

If all that can be said about me is that I lived these X number of years, and I had children and died, then I have lived an Unlived life and I have deprived my generation of the treasure within me, like the foolish steward in Matthew 25:14-30 who buried his talent.

What will be said of you when you are gone?

Will anyone have anything to say asides the fact that you had a dream job, fat bank account, and toured round the world?

Will the earth know that there lived a great man/woman who made impact here?

I have never heard anyone on their death bed in their last moments wishing they had spent more time amassing wealth. Everyone at that point wishes they had followed their dreams and lived a life true to oneself and not what others expected of one. Friend, we do not need to get to a near death experience to begin to live out our dreams, or to live a life of content and value, not glossing over life like “there are many more where that came from”.

That dream in your heart…get to doing it!

What would you like to be said about you at the end of your journey on this side of eternity?

Will you keep living a life that only benefits yourself?

Once I heard, “if you are wrapped up in yourself, then you are a small package#Gbam

There is more! There is more to life and living than getting married and having kids, having a dream job and matching outfits. There is MORE.

So I ask you, what talents to you have? What comes easily to you? What gifts do you have that you can serve your generation with?

What dream do you have on your inside that you have shoved to the side, awaiting a eureka moment to get started. Or is it money that is the issue? Or influence? Or are you waiting for retirement to beginning to live out the dreams within you.

Here is your light-bulb moment, START! And start NOW.

God did not make a mistake by giving you talents, giftings, and a capacity to dream.

So that on the day we stand before our maker, to give account of the treasure he gave us, we will hear the words, WELDONE, my good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.

Stand to be counted

Do not just be another dot in the 7billion people on earth.

Make your life count.

And yes, start from where you are, and start TODAY.

cheers!

I want to say I can’t believe that we just wrote about the same thing on the same day. This can’t be a coincidence Reni. Maybe God is trying to tell us something.
